15 Things Mom Was Totally Right About

We all hate to admit it, but Mom was totally right.

 1. You can admire someone else’s beauty without questioning your own

Someone else may be beautiful, but that doesn’t mean that you aren’t. Someone else may have had the best legs or the cutest date to the 8th Grade dance, but that doesn’t mean your Shirley Temple ringlet curls and lime green dress weren’t completely fabulous. Mom was totally right.

2. In 10 years this won’t matter

I bet you don’t even remember the name of that boy you had to have in high school…do you? Everything was such a big deal, remember? Now we know just how true the phrase “Life Goes On,” truly is. Mom was totally right.

3. One day you’ll like coffee…and broccoli…and wine.

This needs no further explanation. But seriously, who could’ve known we’d eat this much broccoli? *Sips on second cup of coffee*

4. Always wear sunscreen

Mom, thank you for all the times you forced me to take care of my skin. even though I wiggled…and screamed…and threw the occasional temper tantrum. Older me thanks you. Older me also knows the importance of a good Aesthetian.

5. Invest in comfortable shoes

Nothing beats a stylish, comfortable, shoe. Which totally exists.  I’ve also gained a new perspective on shoes: Could I make it through a trip to the grocery store in these without wanting to scream? If not, it’s a NO from me. Mom was totally right.

6. Listen to your Mother

As soon as you went to college, or left the house, you knew just how true this was. Plus, mom know’s how to get out any stain known to man. We’re still trying to figure out how she does that. I know I’m not the only one who’s glad Mom is just a phone call away.

7. A good lipstick can make you feel powerful

When mom put on her favorite lipstick, you knew she meant business. There’s just something about rocking your favorite bold lip that gives you a boost of confidence when you need it.

8. Always say thank you

Mom knew it was important to make those around us feel appreciated. She was so right. Now that we’re a little older we know just how important it is to pause and say thank you.

9. Take care of your skin

Sunscreen was just the beginning. Every time she said “Stop touching your face,” or “Don’t pick at your skin,” we rolled our eyes. And now, we go with her to her favorite spa. A little skincare goes a long way.

10. Always take your make-up off before bed

I think we can all agree the make-up remover wipe is the best invention since sliced bread. Gone are the days of “Last nights eyeliner, is today’s smokey eye,” plus, who’s got time for clogged pores? Mom, it pains me, but you we’re totally right.

11. A few great friends is all you need

Mom always had this 6th sense about who we didn’t need to be friends with. Remember that boy she didn’t like for you? She was totally right about that. As mom always said “I’d rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.”

12. Don’t grow up too fast

Why were we all in such a hurry to grow up again?

13. You cant control what happens, only how you react

Mom always said you could catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

Words have never rung more true.

15. You’ll thank me when you’re older

You’re right, I couldn’t thank you enough.
