Our History
Inspired by her passion for creating positive changes in people's lives, Shirley Terry-Lopez began her beauty career as an Image Consultant and Make-up Artist in 1983.
In 1986 Shirley opened a 1,200 sq. ft. facial salon in Deer Park, Texas called Beyond Beaute' Skin Care, where she worked solo for 2 years as a skin care specialist and partnered with local dermatologists to help clear up various skin challenges. Shirley's passion led her to study the science of longevity and diseases relating to stress. She discovered how valuable the power of touch was in reducing those stessors, improving the quality of life. Shirley researched how the European spas used the holistic approach, such as massage and body treatments with natural seaweed and various minerals from earth and sea to strengthen the body's immune systems. She wanted to offer these wellness services to the everyday woman or man so they could achieve wellness daily, or as often as they needed. Shirley began adding qualified technicians who shared the same vision to create a place where guests could come and be rejuvenated. In 1991 she opened her second location in the Clear Lake area, and changed the name to Beyond Beaute' Day Spa and Wellness Retreat. Today, after 25 years, and still in love with the science of creating wellness and beautiful skin, her spa supports a staff of 52+ employees in the two locations. Shirley has been a guest speaker on the art of skin care for various companies through out the states and in England. Her passion is motivating and helping women achieve a better life, both financially and personally. She expresses this in the work she does through her long term employees and her charity work for women's shelters and organizations. Her motto is "if you enjoy creating a positive change in someone's life, start with your own....embrace your passion and practice living your life as if it was your last day on earth."
